Did you know? - This hotel is said to have inspired Stephen King's book "The Shining". Over the years, the Stanley has certainly earned the reputation of being a truly haunted hotel. Reported ghostly visitors include hotel founder F.O. Stanley and his wife Flora, and a "mysterious cowboy" in room 408. The hotel was twice investigated by The Atlantic Paranormal Society for the television program "Ghosthunters." The hotel even offers ghost tours for a fee.
